I am so proud of all the dancers who participated in our annual Recital in June of this year at the beautiful “Center at 2300”. The Cecchetti Grade V girls really created some beautiful choreography for their own dances. The audience loved all the younger dancers and the routines were executed almost perfectly.
We are now looking forward to performing in the Nutcracker. We plan to use the same theater as everyone loves it and it is close to the studio. Dances will be learned in the class beginning the first of October and placements will be announced on the bulletin board at that time. Costumes are furnished by the studio.
This summer Jadyn Williams and Jennie Watembach were accepted and attended the summer intensive session at the prestigious American Ballet Theater School in New York City. To be selected to attend, you must be an exceptional dancer. Both girls have been studying with Janelle and staff teachers since they were very young. Jadyn moved to the Bay Area last year and has been studying at the Bravissimo Dance School there. We are hoping she will be a guest artist in one of our upcoming shows. Jennie has been working on Grade V Cecchetti and is now a member of the Sacramento Ballet's Youth Company. She has been invited to compete in the International Cecchetti Competition which is held every two years.
I am happy to announce that our former principal ballerina with the Joffrey Ballet, Maia Wilkins, is teaching again this year. We may see her husband, Michael Levine, of the Joffrey, teaching also. Maia is a former student of Janelle's from her Reno studio.
Have a great semester!
